What “almost” means
“Almost” recognizes the human’s original idea, direction, edited opening note, and originating prompt. It is not a measured percentage. Rowan Aster Vale is the pen name for this edition and does not imply scientific credentials.
The book itself discloses that, when publication was requested, the human originator had not read the AI-written chapters. That makes the project unusually candid. It also sets a limit: readers should not infer that the human personally checked and endorsed every claim.
How the research was handled
The production record describes three different passes: compare factual claims with original material; check whether conclusions follow from that material; and challenge weak analogies, missing limits, and counterexamples. Additional AI assistance supplied an independent treatment and focused adversarial criticism. Model criticism was treated as a lead, never as a substitute for a paper or institution’s record.
Specific corrections included keeping plant phototropism separate from phone habits, rejecting a categorical claim that genetic adaptation is impossible, and preserving both benefits and tradeoffs in studies about digital technology. The source guide lets readers inspect some of those foundations.
